What Do You See and What Else Could Be There?
Art is more than just making art of our own. We should also learn to observe elements of art. Observing art, making predictions, and sharing our opinions on art is all a part of art criticism. Today you will be observing art. We can look for objects in art to help decide what the art is about. We can also find elements of art such as colors, shapes, and patterns. Today you will be looking at a work of art and finding objects and elements.
Click the quiz icon to the left of "Week 3" to answer questions about the work of art A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat. After answering the questions about what you can see it's time to make predictions. Please use any coloring supplies to create a drawing of what the people are looking at. They are looking out in the same direction, but what do you think may be out there? Draw it! Fill out the Art Completion form below once finished, due April 24th.
Week 4Â - April 27th to May 1st
Kandinsky Music Drawing
Many artists take inspiration from the world around them. Some artists enjoy listening to music to create art. Sometimes we listen to music in class!
Wassily Kandinsky was a famous artist who enjoyed making art inspired by music. He said he could see the colors in the music, and loved to paint based on the way the music made him feel.
Today you are going to draw just like Kandinsky liked to, by listening to music. Click the music icon to the left to hear the song. Please listen to the music file on repeat until you have completed the drawing. You may use any drawing supplies you have available. Draw what the music makes you feel. Does the music sound happy? Does it sound sad? Maybe you think it sounds scary? What does the song make you think of? Draw it! Fill out the Art Completion Form below once finished, due May 1st.

Week 5 - May 4th to May 8th
What is a Landscape?
A landscape is a type of painting or drawing that takes place outside. It can be of mountains, trees, or grassy hills. There are 3 different parts to drawing a landscape, the horizon line, the foreground, and the background. The horizon line is a line that separates the sky and the ground. The foreground is the part of the picture that is in the front of the picture while the background is the part of the picture that is in the very back. Watch the video provided to better understand each of these parts. Then, draw a picture of a landscape of your choice, using the horizon line, foreground and background. You can use any materials you have at home (pencil, crayons, a pen, or anything else available). Fill out the completion form when you are finished.
